Awesome! December 28, 2011
"...it must be wonderful that you and Scott have the same roots and have been able to enjoy them over the years - the idea of renovating the farm and offering it as a home away from home for anyone connected to Cushing is inspired - there probably isn't another place in the region that can boast the history or comfort, your place can! And the vast knowledge of the town you have is the icing on the cake. You must solid annual reservations for through Fall months!"

A Great Family Experience November 26, 2011
We stay at the beautiful cottage for a week in august when we were visiting the US for a family holiday. Our 4 children and us coud not have been better looked after by our host. The cottage was so welcoming and charming, all had been arranged so thoughtful for us that we felt immediately at home. Staying in this beautiful place in the heart of Mass was such a relaxing experience, lovely walks, beautiful landscape, enjoying the peace of the marvelous garden full of flowers and the trees. We loved the barbecues, the trips to the nearby lakes for a swim and the visits to Boston which is only an hour driving. John was always there to make a good suggestion or help us with our questions. Thanks a lot, John for a wonderful week, we hope to be able to be back and will definitely recommend your charming cottage to all our family and friends in Spain

Nice! September 22, 2011
I was delighted to stay at Haven Homeplace, an old New England farm cottage in a peaceful setting, surrounded by green fields, birds in tall trees, and old rock walls. Inside there is a clean bright kitchen and a view from the large dining table, and a spacious living room. Hosts John and Scott provided excellent professional customer service, including helpful information and thoughtful touches like outdoor dining on the deck, cozy reading places, electronic security, comfortable beds, and modern bathroom. I enjoyed every minute of my week there and look forward to a return visit.

Could Not Have Been More Fun! September 16, 2011
This property was lovely and our hosts could not have been more welcoming to us and our dog. The house was so nice and felt warm and comfortable right away. Everything was there to make our stay perfect -- from the welcome when we pulled in to the eggs and basics in the fridge, our stay was made easy. The home was clean and fresh, warm and secure, and best of all, very welcoming to our dearest pup. Speaking of him -- the fields where the houses reside are huge and made for a great place to hike around, play, and enjoy the weather. The apple trees were a wonderful surprise.

Missing Your Home August 1, 2011
We just stayed at Haven Homeplace with our two children ages 7 & 9. We had just arrived from a six week trip in Italy and John was so inviting. We arrived late and he had all the lights on, food in the fridge and we dropped our bags and felt like we were home. My brother-in-law who is a contractor and finish carpenter came over and just gushed over the home. It is warm, tasteful and totally comfortable. I can only hope that my sister's house isn't finished when we come back to the East Coast so that we can stay here again. Have no hesitation to rent this amazingly charming home...Your home will be a tough one to follow and the kids said today that they miss it as we were eating room service and no Mommy food. The oldest one woke up "homesick" in our hotel room this morning! Thank you again for all of the special touches you put into making our family feeling comfortable and at home.

'Can't believe the fantastic attention to detail here and how terrifically organized everything is. Lobsters were delicious and the BBQ great too...It is so peaceful here and my son didn't want to leave. I hope we can come back again next year during camp. Thank you so much!

Wonderful Peaceful Retreat May 27, 2011
My partner and I spent a week here in May 2011. Even though it was unfortunately rainy the whole week, the house and the property were still very enjoyable and beautiful. John is a great host, and the house is impeccably maintained, with wonderful art on the walls and gorgeous grounds. The kitchen is fully equipped and we had everything we needed. If we're in the area again we will definitely stay here.

This cottage was exactly as described--private, cozy, charming and well equipped. The hosts were personable and couldn't have been more accommodating. We will definitely go again when we are in the area; would love to see the summer garden.

Delightful Cottage in Ashburnham September 22, 2010
It was one of the most pleasant stays I and my family had ever experience at any accommodation while traveling abroad. The cottage is classically located in the traditional New England farm but fully furnished with modern amenities for the enjoyment and comfort of its guests. While we were there the kids enjoyed picking apples from the trees, playing in the field, and also excited watching those wild turkeys making their rounds near the cottage every afternoon. Many thanks to our hosts, John and Scott, for welcoming us to their lovely home and making our first visit to Haven Homeplace so wonderful.

We had two wonderful nights in your charming cottage. We felt right at home and loved the spectacular outdoor surroundings. The wild turkeys added to our visit. Everything was immaculate. On a scale of 1-10, we grade your place a 10+! On the windowsill in the kitchen, you will find a little bird ewith skates. Since you like to take trips to Florida, you are considered "snowbirds". So while you are gone, this little bird can keep an eye on your guests! Hopefully it will not interfere with your current, wonderful "feng shui"! We hope to find our way back soon! Warm regards,

Magnificent home, hosts and location Like a Frost Poem June 9, 2010
Tired of hotels, this is the first time my wife and tried renting a house, and what a wonderful week-long experience this has been. This circa 1830s farmhouse, actually a beautifully renovated cottage, located at the center of 100 acres of forests and meadows, is perfect for us. It is immaculate in its cleanliness, beautifully appointed with both comfortable and handsome furniture. The hosts are wonderful, engaging, helpful, and friendly. Everything we needed to spend the week was in place and available. Turkeys wander through the meadows; woodchucks scurry to find their borrows; stories of deer and coyote. We watched from the many windowed kitchen and dining area. The landscaping reflects care and a stylish flair. The many beautiful stone walls that outline the driveway and meadows are a reminder of New England's and this house's past.
If you are looking for a relaxing, magnificently appointed yet very comfortable home away, this is for you. An added benefit, if you love Robert Frost's poetry, you see his poems everywhere: birch trees, not yet bent; walls that make good neighbors; tufts of flowers. We would love to spend time here at other times of the year: fall with the magnificence of maple colors; seeing winter's white.

Country living at it's best! December 2009
We had a great time here...! The beds were amazingly comfortable and the house was completely charming.
We were there during the month of December for 9 days and got to take advantage of the close proximity to Mt. Wachusett for skiing! We could only imagine how beautiful it must be during the other three seasons of the year! Thanks again for a lovely and memorable stay! (5 Stars!)

Perfect Night September 2009
My husband and I got married at the Cathedral of the Pines this past summer and we stayed at Haven Homeplace the night before our wedding. It was the perfect place to go to just relax before our big day. The owners John and Scott were wonderful to deal with and were so welcoming to us. They provided us with everything we needed to feel right at home. Thank you again!!

Magnificent Week! June 2009
Well, what can I say...your home is more than what you described. I sat early this morning at the table in the dining area and watched five turkeys have their leisurely breakfast in the west meadow. I noted the stone walls, the ferns, the iris, roses, and other flowers; the blue bird keeping watch from atop his house. A light breeze blowing the humidity somewhere else ... I'm not sure I would be able to give up my home as you and Scott have done for others... I suspect I would sit at this table, and write, write,write... It shall be a most magnificent week.

A haven of peace and serenity! April 2009
"My husband and I spent several months this past winter at Haven Homeplace while we completed a complicated real estate deal and started a renovation on our home in this area. As the pictures attest, this home was such a treat to come back to every day. A safe haven in the storm of our lives. We felt like we walked in to a haven of peace and serenity. Every detail created a sense of warmth and welcome. We loved the big bookcase, the inspirational books at the side of each bed, the big mugs and the hot chocolate mix so thoughtfully placed in the kitchen. For our short time there, we moved in heart and soul. The grounds are private and amazing. I'm hoping to find a reason to create a stay in the summer so I can see it from that perspective! This home was a true find."

A piece of heaven on earth! Jan 14, 2009
"We honestly could not find one thing that you could change or add to make our experience a better one. Your home was perfect for us. Some of my favorite things were the rustic decor, the large square table in the kitchen, the lighting (the ability to dim it) and the ambiance that it gave to the whole place. The attention to detail was superb. Your art work and your book case added even more to the warmth of the space. We honestly felt right at home the minute we walked in as if we had been there before. Trey's favorite things were the windows and the sky lights, and Jake's was your wonderful grounds. He was out everyday exploring the land. He spent hours out back scraping snow off the pond in order to play pond hockey and took to the high hill where he sledded. Our whole family loved the turkeys and all the wildlife. We saw several deer and a huge fox one day. It seemed that every day we were greeted by some sort of wildlife, so we really looked forward to those little gifts that were sent our way. The only negative thing that we have to say is that we are so sad that we couldn't stay longer.
Our family has been truly blessed to have found Haven Homeplace, and feel that a home speaks volumes about the kind of people who live in it. Warm, caring and inviting are the words that best fit. With that we feel we have made friends for life! We wish you the best now and throughout the New Year."
