The Elijah Haven Homeplace compound is comprised of a 1,350+ square foot 2.5 bedroom/1 bath restored 1830 Half Cape Home (where you'll stay), a Converted Barn with attached Greenhouse and a Post & Beam Carriage House/Garage –all at the end of a paved 500' private lane . We are surrounded by acres and acres of beautiful forests, fields, stonewalls, an orchard, blueberry field and approximately 6 acres of manicured lawns and gardens and hundreds of acres of conservation land beyond. See turkey, deer, coyote, fox, swallows, bluebirds, cardinals and other wildlife in this, your home-away-from-home.

A Bit of Local Color...

Elijah Haven Homeplace was a gift from Elijah's parents, Jonas and Nancy Haven, who settled the 300 acres next door just after the Revolutionary War. One of their daughters, Anna Dawn, was found on the doorstep at sunrise one morning in the mid-1800s and the family adopted her.

In 1990, we purchased the farm from the Havens (the first time it had been out of their family in over 160 years) and completely updated it, created the lawns & gardens and cleared the fields – leaving the charm intact. Not coincidentally, one of the prominent rose species in our garden is "Anna Dawn". It's always a work in progress, as old homes are...and our guests say they love it. "This circa 1830s farmhouse, actually a beautifully renovated cottage, located at the center of 100 acres of forests and meadows, is perfect for us. It is immaculate in its cleanliness, beautifully appointed with both comfortable and handsome furniture. The hosts are wonderful, engaging, helpful, and friendly. Everything we needed to spend the week was in place and available. Turkeys wander through the meadows; woodchucks scurry to find their borrows; stories of deer and coyote. We watched from the many windowed kitchen and dining area.
The landscaping reflects care and a stylish flair. The many beautiful stone walls that outline the driveway and meadows are a reminder of New England's and this house's past.

An added benefit, if you love Robert Frost's poetry, you see them everywhere: birch trees, not yet bent; walls that make good neighbors; tufts of flowers. We would love to spend time here at other times of the year: fall with the magnificence of maple colors; seeing winter's white.
